At Beyond Rest Perth, each session takes place in your own private pod. You do not share the pod with anyone else, and you do not share the water. The pod lid is entirely under your control: open or closed, and adjustable at any point during your session. No shared pool, no communal area, no required social element. Perth has two Beyond Rest float centres: East Perth at 125 Edward St and Wembley at 1/252 Cambridge St. Wembley opens 6:00am Monday. Standard session $89; intro 3-pack $177.

The infrared sauna prepares the nervous system before a float. Heat opens the body, loosens muscle tension, and shifts you into a deeper baseline state, which means you reach the deeper layers of the float faster. Many Beyond Rest clients report a noticeably more relaxing float when preceded by a sauna session. Sauna-then-float is the pairing most regulars settle on, and it works at both Perth centres.

Float therapy - also called flotation REST - involves lying in a private pod filled with a highly concentrated Epsom salt solution. The density of the water means you float on the surface without any effort. The water is at body temperature, and the pod reduces light and sound, creating a state of near-total sensory reduction. Sessions run for 60 to 90 minutes.
Yes, fully private. You have your own pod for the entire session. No one else is in the pod with you, and the water is not shared between guests. The pod is cleaned and the water is filtered between every session. Beyond Rest is not a bathhouse or communal water facility - each pod is a private individual space.
Yes, always. The lid is entirely under your control throughout the session. You can float with it open, closed, or partially open. Many first-time floaters prefer the lid open. There is no requirement to close it, and the pod is designed so you can adjust the lid at any point during your float. The space inside is large enough to sit up comfortably.
Standard sessions at Beyond Rest Perth are 60 minutes of float time. Some clients book 90-minute sessions. The overall visit will be longer once you factor in the shower before and after and the post-float rest period. Allow around two hours for your visit.
The float pod contains approximately 1,000 litres of water with around 600 kilograms of Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) dissolved in it. This concentration is what allows you to float without effort. The water is maintained at approximately 34.5 degrees Celsius. It is not chlorinated in the traditional sense - Beyond Rest uses a filtration and sanitation system that meets health regulations and is checked regularly.
Many FIFO and shift workers use float therapy specifically as a nervous-system reset between rotations. The sensory reduction environment is one of the fastest ways to shift the body out of the sustained hyperarousal state that builds during a compressed work swing. The Beyond Rest Wembley centre opens at 6:00am on Mondays, which makes it practical to book a session on the morning you return from site before the transition back into home life fully begins.
No. First-time floaters are welcome at both Perth centres. When you book, you can let the team know it is your first session and they will walk you through what to expect. The intake process at each centre also covers any questions and screens for contraindications before you enter the pod.
Claustrophobia is one of the most common concerns among first-time floaters, and it is worth addressing honestly. The float pod at Beyond Rest is larger than most people expect - you can sit upright comfortably. The lid can be kept fully open throughout your session, and the internal lighting can remain on. If you have severe claustrophobia, discuss this with your GP before booking. Mild concern about enclosed spaces is very common and most clients find it resolves once they are inside the pod and have confirmed they can open the lid freely.
Avoid caffeine for a few hours before your session if possible - it can make it harder to settle into the rest state. Do not shave or wax within 12 hours of floating, as the salt water can irritate fresh skin. Remove contact lenses before your session. Eat lightly beforehand - floating on a very full or very empty stomach can be distracting. Beyond Rest provides earplugs, towels, and post-float amenities at both centres.
They work on different mechanisms and suit different needs. An infrared sauna session is an active thermal experience: your body heats up, you sweat, circulation increases, and the effect is typically energising or deeply warming. Float therapy is a reduction experience: inputs are removed, the body is weightless, and the nervous system is given nothing to process. Some clients prefer one or the other depending on what they need that day. Many find that combining both - sauna then float, or float then sauna - produces an effect that is greater than either modality alone. Both are available at Beyond Rest East Perth and Wembley.
Session packs are also available - 3-session pack ($199 solo / $270 duo) and 5-session pack ($300 solo / $400 duo).

Most infrared saunas in Perth are communal: shared facilities, other people in the room, the background noise that makes genuine unwinding harder. Beyond Rest is different.
Each session is entirely private. You have your own Evolve 30 cabin for the full 45 minutes. No shared space. No one waiting outside. No one else in the room while you are in there. Just you, 360° of full-spectrum infrared heat, and the space to actually switch off.
For people using infrared sauna as a genuine recovery tool - after a heavy training block, a long fly-in period, or a week that accumulated more than it should have - the privacy is not a secondary consideration. The nervous system needs quiet and safety to shift into genuine rest. A private cabin delivers that in a way a shared sauna room cannot.
The Evolve 30 is large enough to seat three people and comfortably fits two. Two-person sessions are available at $74 - an additional $25 on the standard single rate. Still your own private space, just shared with one person you chose to bring.

Both Beyond Rest Perth centres - East Perth and Wembley - have ice bath facilities, making it straightforward to add a cold plunge directly onto your infrared session in a single visit.
Cold exposure after infrared sauna creates a circulatory pump that neither modality achieves alone. Heat expands blood vessels and raises core temperature; the cold plunge contracts them sharply. The cycle drives oxygen and nutrients into recovering tissue and creates a post-exposure flush that is noticeably different from either modality used on its own. It has become a standard recovery protocol for serious athletes and for anyone managing chronic muscle tension, inflammation, or accumulated fatigue.
The sequence that produces the strongest response: sauna first, ice bath second. Heat opens the body and raises core temperature; the subsequent cold creates the contrast. Most clients describe the combined session as a reset that sits in a different category from either modality alone. And like our infrared saunas, every cold plunge session is fully private - your own room, your own tub, your own pace. No shared facilities. No communal cold plunge.
Both Beyond Rest Perth centres have Hocatt available. You do not need to travel to a specific location for the upgrade - whichever centre suits you, Hocatt is there. Here is the honest case for when to choose which. A traditional infrared sauna delivers one thing: radiant heat across three wavelengths. Hocatt gives you that same heat plus eight additional modalities layered into the same 35-minute session.
For many people, the infrared sauna is exactly the right tool - a regular, affordable heat habit that produces genuine results with high frequency. For others, particularly those working through a specific health protocol or looking for the deepest available recovery tool in a single session, Hocatt reaches mechanisms infrared alone cannot.

The economics are worth being clear about. At $49 per infrared session versus $119 intro / $155 standard for Hocatt, the difference is real. Many clients run both: infrared two to three times per week for the consistent heat ritual, Hocatt once a fortnight as the deeper reset. That combination gives you high-frequency thermal exposure at an accessible cost with the more intensive multi-modality session layered in as a periodic complement.
Hocatt is available at both Beyond Rest East Perth and Beyond Rest Wembley.
