Beyond Rest offers full-spectrum 360° infrared sauna sessions across four Melbourne centres: Hawthorn East, Moonee Ponds, Collingwood, and Prahran. The cabins are Sun Stream Evolve 30 units, premium full-spectrum 360° cabins engineered to surround the body with near, mid, and far-infrared wavelengths from all sides, driving one of the deepest and most effective sweats available in a clinic setting.
No shared rooms. No communal spaces. Each session is completely private - your own cabin, your own space, your own pace.
If you are comparing infrared sauna providers in Melbourne, looking to build a heat ritual, or exploring the Hocatt upgrade, this guide covers everything you need including confirmed pricing, which centres have Hocatt installed, and what the research says.

The infrared sauna prepares the nervous system before a float. Heat opens the body, loosens muscle tension, and shifts you into a deeper baseline state, which means you reach the deeper layers of the float faster. Many Beyond Rest clients report a noticeably more relaxing float when preceded by the sauna. Sauna-then-float is the pairing most regulars land on. If you are booking both, sauna first is the recommended sequence.

The Evolve 30 has two large heaters on the door directly in front of you and on the adjacent glass panel. This gives you perfect 360 Degrees of Surround Infrared Heat.
Our heaters are also lower on the walls. This directs more radiant heat onto your body, not wasting it above your head.
You can relax and enjoy with perfect ease since our Nano-Carbon panel heaters are one of the lowest in the industry. The average readings on the heater surface of less than 1mG as measured with all different styles of meters. These have tested 0.0 ppm VOC.
Most IR saunas use synthetic cloth covers to their carbon panel heaters. Not us! With our sauna’s, the ‘Nano-Carbon’ heaters do not use cloth covers at all.
Instead they are built with non-toxic Titebond water based glue. This is food-contact approved quality.
Also, they are constructed using 100% premium grade Hardwood Basswood. A hypo-allergenic wood which is denser, stronger and greater sweat stain resistant than others.
Absolutely. The Sun Stream Evolve 30 cabin is sized to fit three people and seats two very comfortably. Two-person bookings are available - the rate is $74 ($25 on top of the standard single rate). Still your own private space, just shared with one person you choose to bring.
No. Infrared sauna is contraindicated during pregnancy. Raising core temperature during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester, carries risk of harm and is not recommended by obstetric guidance. If you are pregnant or planning to conceive, please consult your obstetrician or midwife before any heat therapy.
If you do have any of the following conditions, please consult prior with your physician or health care professional; Acute joint injuries, adrenal suppression, artificial joints, enclosed infections (dental, joints, tissue), Haemophilia, Hyperthyroidism, SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematous), Multiple Sclerosis, metal pins or any other implants.
Also, check with your health care professional or pharmacist for any possible effects that infrared radiation may have on your body while taking certain medication.
If, at any point during your session in the Infrared Sauna you; stop sweating, your skin becomes clammy, you feel weak, tired or nauseous, please leave the sauna immediately.
Please consult with your physician or health care professional prior to any use of the sauna if your medication/s may cause effects on your body when exposed to infrared waves or elevated body temperature.
Please Also Note:Barbiturates, Beta-blockers and Diuretics may impair the body’s natural heat loss mechanisms.
Anticholinergics such as Amitriptyline (Elavil) may inhibit sweating and can predispose individuals to heat rash or, to a lesser extent, heat stroke.
Some over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, such as antihistamines, may also cause the body to be more prone to heat stroke.
Two to three sessions per week is the most productive rhythm for most people, frequent enough to build cumulative benefit while leaving the body adequate recovery time between sessions.
Single sessions are also valuable for targeted recovery after a hard training block or a stressful week. If you are new to infrared sauna, start with one session per week for the first two to four weeks and build from there. If you are also considering Hocatt, its higher intensity means one to two sessions per week is the typical guidance.
Full-spectrum infrared means the sauna delivers near, mid, and far-infrared wavelengths simultaneously. Single-wavelength saunas, common in gyms and home units, deliver far-infrared only. Near-infrared reaches skin and surface tissue, mid-infrared penetrates muscle and joints, far-infrared drives the deep core heat and sweat response.
The Sun Stream Evolve 30 at Beyond Rest adds a 360° configuration so heat is distributed evenly across the whole body, producing a faster and deeper sweat than a single-panel unit.
A Finnish sauna heats the room to 80-100°C and you absorb the ambient hot air through your skin. Infrared works differently - wavelengths penetrate 2-5 centimetres into skin and soft tissue, raising your core temperature from the inside out at a much lower ambient temperature (45-65°C). The result is a deeper, more breathable sweat. Sessions are also longer (45 minutes continuous versus 10-20 minute Finnish rounds). For most people the infrared experience is more comfortable and produces a stronger sweat response per session.
For some purposes yes, and for others infrared sauna is the better fit. Hocatt stacks nine modalities in a 35-minute session: ozone therapy, far infrared, photon light therapy, microcurrents, oxygen therapy, CO2 therapy, ultrasonic cavitation, aromatherapy, and mild hyperthermia.
If you are recovering from illness, managing chronic fatigue, or working through a mould or gut protocol, Hocatt reaches mechanisms infrared alone cannot. If you want a regular affordable heat habit two to three times per week, infrared at $49 is the right choice. Many clients use infrared frequently and Hocatt periodically as a deeper reset, and the two work well together. Hocatt is available at Beyond Rest Prahran and Hawthorn East only.
Beyond Rest offers infrared sauna at four Melbourne locations: Hawthorn East, Moonee Ponds, Collingwood, and Prahran. The Hocatt nine-modality upgrade is available at Hawthorn East and Prahran only. Sessions are $49 for 45 minutes. Book at your nearest centre via the Beyond Rest website.
It may support sleep for many people. Infrared heat raises core temperature during the session; as the body cools afterward, it mimics the natural temperature drop that triggers deep sleep onset.
Research by Beever (2010) found repeated thermal therapy associated with improved sleep quality markers. Most clients who book late-afternoon or early-evening sessions report improved sleep depth that night, particularly with consistent use over several weeks.
What to wear: light cotton shorts, a swimsuit, or a towel. Individual private cabins mean clothing is optional. Hydration: drink around 500ml of water before, and bring a bottle inside with you. During the session: the first 10-15 minutes are warm and building, by 20-25 minutes most people are in a full sustained sweat. Heart rate typically rises to 100-120 bpm. If at any point you feel lightheaded, step out - there is no performance required. After: you'll feel warm and genuinely relaxed. Allow 15-20 minutes before driving if it is your first visit.
Yes - combinations are popular. Infrared sauna and contrast therapy: heat then cold creates a circulatory pump that neither modality achieves alone, available at Hawthorn East and Collingwood. Infrared sauna and red light therapy: extends the photobiomodulation effect with skin and cellular energy benefits. Infrared sauna and float therapy: heat prepares the nervous system for a deeper float - sauna first is the recommended sequence. The contrast therapy and red light combinations are linked at the bottom of this page.
A pre-session rinse is advisable if you have applied sunscreen, heavy skincare, or have exercise residue on your skin - these can reduce infrared absorption. A post-session shower is recommended to wash away sweat and the compounds expelled through the skin. Cool or tepid water is preferred post-session, and a cold rinse also provides a pleasant thermal contrast.
Most infrared saunas in Melbourne are communal - a shared room, other people around, the social noise that makes it harder to switch off. Beyond Rest is different.
Each session is entirely private. You have your own Sun Stream Evolve 30 cabin for the full 45 minutes. No shared facility. No waiting room. No one else in the space while you are in there. Just you, 360° of full-spectrum infrared heat, and the time to actually decompress.
For most people, that privacy is not a nice-to-have - it is the thing that makes the session work. The nervous system needs quiet and safety to shift into genuine rest. A private cabin delivers that in a way a communal sauna room cannot.
If you want to bring someone with you, the Evolve 30 is large enough to seat three people and comfortably fits two. Two-person bookings are $74 - an additional $25 on the standard single rate. Still your own private space, just shared with one person you choose to bring.

At two of the Beyond Rest Melbourne centres - Hawthorn East and Collingwood - you can book a private contrast therapy session combining infrared sauna and ice bath in a single visit.
Contrast therapy, alternating between heat and cold, creates a strong circulatory pump that neither modality achieves alone. Heat expands blood vessels and raises core temperature, the cold plunge contracts them sharply. The cycle drives oxygen and nutrients into recovering tissue and creates a post-exposure flush that is noticeably different from either modality used alone. It has become a standard recovery protocol for serious athletes, and for anyone managing chronic muscle tension, inflammation, or general fatigue.
The sequence that produces the strongest response: infrared sauna first, cold plunge second. Heat opens the body and raises core temperature; the subsequent cold creates the contrast. Most clients describe the combined session as a reset that sits in a different category to either modality on its own.
Like our infrared saunas, every contrast therapy session is fully private - your own room, your own tub, your own pace. No shared facilities. No communal cold plunge.
Many people who come into Beyond Rest for an infrared sauna eventually ask about Hocatt. Here is the honest case. A traditional infrared sauna delivers one thing - radiant heat across three wavelengths. Hocatt gives you that same heat plus eight additional modalities layered into the same session. For some people, the simpler infrared sauna is exactly the right tool. For others, the stacked version reaches results a single-modality sauna cannot achieve on its own.

The price difference is real. At $49 per infrared session versus $119 intro / $155 standard for Hocatt, the economics matter if you are booking multiple times per week. Many clients pair the two - using infrared frequently and Hocatt as the deeper periodic reset, typically weekly or fortnightly. That combination gives you high-frequency heat at an accessible price with the more intensive multi-modality session as a complement. Hocatt is available at Beyond Rest Prahran and Beyond Rest Hawthorn East. If you are closest to Collingwood or Moonee Ponds, Prahran is approximately 15 minutes from Collingwood and Hawthorn East is approximately 25 minutes from Moonee Ponds.
